When it's just plain cold outside.

There are some days - when it is just plain cold.

When your bed & nice warm home beckon, and going outside is the last thing you'd like to do.  But when you live on a ranch, that isn't an option.  Those cold days are when cattle need humans the most; to feed them, make sure they're protected from the environment, and to look after little calves who might need a bit more attention.

So you get out of bed, you get dressed in lots of layers & your favorite jacket, and you head out.

Because even in the cold - the beauty that surrounds this lifestyle beckons.

And it always wins.

We had a pretty good cold snap for this area in December, but the midwest & northeast really got socked by extremely frigid temperatures and wind this weekend.  The ranchers there are in our thoughts - especially those that are calving right now - and we hope that you'll get through this weather successfully and without loss.

You're right on when you say there is something that just brings you back for more ... that even when it's cold you're still willing to go out and freeze. :)

Beautiful pictures -
